Web Design Intro
The best design tool is the brain - visualize what you want and than simply program it. A basic text editor, such as notepad can let you write the programming code and than just save it and host it and instant website. That's how this website was created.
Not able to visualize the website or program it in text editor? There is hope for you still. There are plenty of webpage editors - programs that will help you do the layout and assist or even do the programming for you.
Most professional websites are made in a graphic editor program - such as corel, ai, or PSD - than loaded in an editor such as adobe dreamweaver and the images sliced up and re-encoded to form a website.
Some website are also built in other programming languages - aside from html, which may provide them unique capabilities - such as running web-based applications.
It is the vision that with a combination of html5. javascript, java and css that a whole operating system can be operated with applications that run from remote servers - which will reduce hardware requirements considerablly and allow for greater control over software and data by third-parties - well known as 'the cloud'. Web Design Tips
Design Tips
-Brainstorm to determine what you want to convey with the design.
-Being simple is generally better.
-Be unique. Using what other people have will just get your design lost in a sea of graphics.
-Think about fonts. How will they be used, what would look best based on your market.
-The design should be memorable, so that people remember it and it becomes associated with your company.
-The design should be fairly flexible in how it can be used.
-Understand how the design will be used in size and medium.
-Always use with correct aspect ratio (ratio bettween height and width)
-The design should be appropriate for the market or the audience.
-The design does not need to convey what the company does.
-The design should not be restricted to a specific time period, unless your business is for that time period.
-Look for hidden meaning, in either the name or in the logo itself.
-Colour can convey a emotional response - use wisely and do not overpower the senses.
-Colour Symbolism: use of colour to associate with something - for example, in north america, red could mean stop, danger, romance, love - however depends on specific culture and period of use; in china red is associated with happiness.
-Colour psychology: general idea that hot colours are stimulants, while cool colours are depresants. Hues of blue are thought to have a high prefence in humans; colours preference may change depenat on ambient temperature; Colour of environment can change opinion of colour on design.
-Absent of colour: Will the design still look good without colour or in other colours?
-Background colour: Will the design still look good on different backgrounds?
-Be aware of the technological limits of the design. For example, some colours are not reproducable by a printer even though they look perfectly fine on a computer screen.
-"You get what you pay for."
